Mid-year reset: useful tips for a fresh start

Whoa, where did the first half of the year go? One minute it was January and we were all making resolutions, and now it’s July and those resolutions are…well, let’s just say they’re “deferred.” But fear not, it’s never too late for a mid-year reset! Here’s a fun yet practical guide to getting back on track and making the most of the rest of the year.

1. Revisit your New Year resolutions

Remember those goals you set with such enthusiasm back in January? Ooopsie they went out the window? That's why we should make plans instead of resolutions, but let's eave it for another post. Yeah, time to dig them out. Maybe you aimed to run a marathon, learn French, or finally tackle that closet monster. Whatever they were, it’s time to re-evaluate. Adjust them to be more realistic or downright achievable. "Run a marathon" can become "Run a 5K." Baby steps, people.

2. Detox your space

Start with a good old-fashioned declutter. Marie Kondo your life and get rid of anything that doesn’t spark joy, or is just plain annoying. Old magazines? Recycle. Clothes that don’t fit? Donate. Mismatched socks? Toss. You’ll feel lighter and your space will thank you.

3. Reframe your habits

Shake up your daily routine. Maybe switch your morning coffee to matcha, or try doing yoga before bed instead of binge-watching Netflix until 2 am. Small changes can make a big difference. And who knows, you might even become a morning person (LOL, but let’s not get carried away).

4. Health goals: take two

Did your health goals fizzle out? Time to reignite them. Start with easy wins, drink more water, take the stairs, and maybe, just maybe, eat a vegetable or two. If you’re feeling ambitious, try a new fitness class. Zumba? Pilates? Arial yoga? The possibilities are endless and hilarious. For healthy recepies go to my Instagram page with over 2000 recipes

5. Financial check-in

Halfway through the year is a great time to check in on your finances. Are you still on track with your budget, or has it been blown on takeout and impulse buys? Create a simple plan to save a bit more and spend a bit less. Maybe unsubscribe from those emails that tempt you with “limited-time offers.” If you need ideas read the No-spend year e-book.

6. Reignite your social life

Been a bit of a hermit? It happens. Reconnect with friends and family, even if it’s just a quick text or a coffee date. Plan a few social activities for the second half of the year. Host a summer BBQ, have a game night, or join a new club. Socializing is like exercise for your soul, awkward at first, but you feel great afterward.

7. Learn something new

Pick up a new hobby or skill. Always wanted to paint? Take a class. Interested in coding? Try an online course. Learning something new keeps your brain sharp and can be a lot of fun. Plus, it gives you something impressive to talk about at parties.

8. Travel plans near and far

If travel was on your list and didn’t happen, plan a mini-adventure. Even a weekend getaway can feel like a reset. Explore a new city, hike a nearby trail, or visit that quirky museum you’ve always been curious about. If a big trip is in the cards, start planning now and get excited! Set up a pinterest board and start collecting ideas.

9. Self-care Sheningans

Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and face masks (though those are great too). It’s about doing things that make you feel good and recharged. Read a book, take a nap, meditate, or dance like no one’s watching. Make self-care a regular part of your routine and watch your mood soar. 10. Seak new goals and celebrate your wins

Finally, set some fresh goals for the second half of the year. Make them specific, attainable, and fun. And don’t forget to celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Finished a book? Celebrate. Cooked a healthy meal? Celebrate. Survived Monday? Definitely celebrate.
