But how long does the enthusiasm last? Making adopting a healthier lifestyle a top priority is more rewarding, and what better way to begin than by focusing on a balanced and nutritious diet? In this blog post we'll explore how you can incorporate healthy eating into your New Year's resolutions for a happier and healthier you.
Reflect on the past year
Before setting any new resolutions or goals, take a moment to reflect on the previous year. Count your achievements and celebrate them, acknowledge your challenges, and note what you've learned of them. Learn about macronutrients, micronutrients, portion sizes, and how different foods impact your body, it is the foundation of a balanced and health-conscious diet. Choose someone who has a holistic approach, and takes in consideration your life circumstances too.
Meal prep for success
Meal preparation can be a game-changer on your journey to healthy eating. Set aside time each week to plan and prepare meals for the week. Having nutritious options readily available reduces the likelihood of opting for unhealthy alternatives when you're pressed for time. Also less effort and less time consuming during a busy week, not to mention it can reduce your shopping expenses if you only buy items that are necessary for the weekly meals. You can also write a progress journal for yourself to check on your goals weekly, and if something doesn't go the way you'd like it then it is easier to make changes in advance.
