The journey to self-love: 29 days of self-care

Oh, I can't believe we are already in February!

It is the month of love, Valentines Day is coming, spring is around the corner, weather is warming up soon, and we are getting rid of clothes. So it is time to prepare ourselves for it with some self-love, making sure we are not neglecting our well-being in the everyday tasks.

We often start a journey on the 1st of January, we promise we will eat well, move more, care about our body, soul and mind, but then a month goes buy and we loose that mojo, we go back to "normal life" routine and do less and less for ourself.

So let this month be for YOU and only for you.

And to make it even better, this year we have 29 days in February for ourself.

Embarking on a journey towards self-love and self-care can be transformative, empowering, and ultimately life-changing. In a world that often demands so much from us, dedicating time and attention to our own well-being becomes a powerful act of self-compassion. Over the course of 29 days, let's explore some practices to nurture self-love and enhance our relationship with ourselves. You can stack these acts with each other day by day, making them into a habit.

You can download the template for these at the bottom of the page, you can print it out and check every day.

Day 1: Gratitude practice: begin by reflecting on things you're grateful for. Start a gratitude journal and write down three things each day that bring joy and appreciation into your life.

Day 2: Mindfulness meditation: engage in mindfulness meditation for at least 10 minutes. Focus on your breath and observe thoughts without judgment, cultivating a sense of presence.

Day 3: Morning stretching routine: start your day with gentle stretching exercises to wake up your body and mind. Focus on flexibility and releasing tension.

Day 4: Unplug and disconnect: take a break from technology for a few hours. Disconnect from screens and spend time in nature, reading a book, or engaging in a creative hobby.

Day 5: Self-compassion practice: practice self-compassion by acknowledging and validating your feelings. Treat yourself with kindness and understanding as you would a dear friend.

Day 6: Healthy cooking: experiment with a new healthy recipe. Prepare a nutritious meal that nourishes your body and delights your taste buds. (Find some great ones here: Dora's kitchen adventures)

Day 7: Mental detox evening: designate an evening to unplug completely. Indulge in a relaxing bath, listen to calming music, or practice restorative yoga to unwind.

Day 8: Self-reflection: spend time in self-reflection. Journal about your dreams, goals, and aspirations. Take note of your accomplishments and acknowledge your strengths.

Day 9: Acts of kindness: engage in acts of kindness towards yourself and others. Practice self-care rituals, pamper yourself with a massage, or simply spend quality time doing what brings you joy.

Day 10: Creative expression: express yourself creatively. Paint, draw, dance, sing (let those neighbours hear you), write poetry, or engage in any form of art that allows you to express your emotions freely.

Day 11: Positive affirmations: start your day with uplifting and positive affirmations to set the mood, and make yourself smiling.

Day 12: Mindful breathing: practice deep breathing exercises for relaxation. Try box breathing technique: 4 seconds inhale, 4 seconds hold, 4 seconds out, 4 seconds hold. Repeat 10 times.

Day 13: Self-compliments: give yourself compliments in the mirror. You are the best, don't forget that :)

Day 14: Mindful eating: savor each bite and eat without distractions. Smell, taste, look at your food with care and chew slowly.

Day 15: Body positivity: embrace and appreciate your body as it is. Find something you love about it, your eyes, smile, boobs, legs, anything.

Day 16: Learn something new: pursue a hobby or skill you've always wanted to try. Think about something you wanted to do as a child and make it happen.

Day 17: Positive visualization: envision your success and happiness. Close your eyes and imagine yourself as you reached your goals. How does it feel like? Embrace the joy.

Day 18: Dress for yourself: wear clothes that make you feel confident and pretty. If you have a "special" outfit or underwear that you are keeping for a special occasion, then just put it on. This is your occasion.

Day 19: Learn to say no: set boundaries and prioritize your needs. / Learn to say yes: be open to new opportunities and experiences.

Day 20: Explore nature: take a walk or hike in a natural setting. Breathe deeply, enjoy the sounds, smells, and the beauty.

Day 21: Take yourself on a date: treat yourself to a solo outing. Go to your favourite restaurant, to the movie or theatre, think about programs you would make with a partner.

Day 22: Prioritize sleep: ensure you get enough rest for overall well-being. Follow an evening routinge to wind down, get a bath, read, put away all electronic devices, maybe light a candle, and be in bed on time.

Day 23: Declutter: organize and clean up your spaces. You don't need to declutter your whole home in one day, maybe choose a part of it, and get rid of anything you don't need.

Day 24: Create a vision board: visualize your goals and aspirations. Collect pictures, quotes that are reminding you of them and put this collection where you can see it every day as a reminder.

Day 25: Read a self-help book: invest time in personal development literature. Wether it is time-management, stress management, financial or any book that can move you forward somehow.

Day 26: Forgive yourself: Let go of past mistakes and forgive yourself. That is sometimes the hardest task of all, but carrying your guilt (however small or big it may be), is a toll on your mental and physical health.

Day 27: Compliment others: spreading positivity can boost your own mood. Watch people light up if you say something kind. You can never know who needs it, maybe you turn their bad day into a good one with only one sentence.

Day 28: Treat yourself: enjoy a favorite treat guilt-free. Don't worry about calories, macros, anything like that, just eat it. Once in a month won't take all your achievments away.

Day 29: Celebrate achievements: Acknowledge and celebrate your accomplishments. be happy about how far you have come. I'm so proud of you!

Self-love is an ongoing journey that requires consistent nurturing and care. By dedicating time to these 29 days of self-love practices, you're taking crucial steps towards fostering a deeper connection with yourself, cultivating resilience, and embracing your worthiness. Remember, the most important relationship you'll ever have is the one with yourself, cherish it, nurture it, and let it flourish.

Get back here at the end of the month and let's chack what will form into a habit and a keeper, and what is you had trouble with?
